I think that on this problem, I’ll offer a simple description of what I think is [the difference] between Chinese and American practices. In Chinese society, you you know that generally, uh, that interpersonal relationships are extremely important, whether with your boss, your colleagues, or with someone else. But in American society, you need these extremely clear-cut legal relationships. It’s very important [to Americans] to give precedence to the law. Where there’s no law to turn to, it’s not easy to get things done because it’s one of the bases of all kinds of decisions. Therefore… however, these days many American approaches to doing things, that is to say, uh, [they understand] the importance of these human relations. But then they think : “Suppose that these feelings don’t pan out. It would lead to some legally, uh, inappropriate actions.” That is, they’re already thinking about ways to avoid these kinds of relationships. Now of course in Chinese society, uh, you need personal connections for everything. From relationships with government officials at the top to business to relationships between people, you must have predetermined social relationships. Using these kinds of social relationships, you don’t need to go through the normal process. They let you get things done just right. From the perspective of getting things done, they’re a short cut. The thing we really worry about is, if you’re doing things this way, the interested parties, their costs are very high. These costs, are, uh, you you have to pay some fees. Then we say, don’t take this as a bribe. This is how you get something done. Sometimes, this can be unfair to many other people. That’s how it is.

我想在这个问题上面，我想就中国跟美国之间的一种做法做一个简单的啊叙述啊。在中国社会里面，你你晓得大概啊人与人之间的关系是非常重要。不管你跟是你的上司，你的同事，还有其他的关系。可是在美国社会里面呢，它需要讲一些非常清楚的法律的关系。它认为把法放在前面是非常重要。因为没有法律依据呢，那就不容易啊把事情啊做好。因为它是一个啊各种啊决定的一个基础。所以呢可是现在最近很多美国的一个做法就是说啊以了解这个人情的关系的重要。可是下面哦想到：万一假如这个人情走不通的话，会对法律上面有一些啊啊不不不恰当的行为。就是他自己想到怎么样去避免这个关系。那当然在中国社会里面，啊各方面都要有人事关系。从上面的啊官关于政府官员，商业行为，还有人与人之间都需要有一定的社会关系。那用这种社会关系呢，他就不需要走一个正常的过程，使事情达到非常圆满的啊的一个阶段。那从做事的观点来讲，那当然这是一个捷径。那我们就非常啊担心的一点就是说，要这样做的话，作为当事人，他有很大的成本在里面，这个成本说你你一者呢要付一些费用。然后我们就说不要说贿赂了。就是这样使事情完成。那这样有时候呢会对很多其他人是很不公平的。那就这样。

Wǒxiǎng zài zhègè wèntí shàngmiàn，wǒ xiǎng jiù zhōngguó gēn měiguó zhījiān de yīzhǒng zuòfǎ zuò yīgè jiǎndān de ah xùshù ah。 Zài zhōngguó shèhuì lǐmiàn，nǐ nǐ xiǎodé dàgài ah rényǔrén zhījiān de guānxì shì fēicháng zhòngyào。Bùguǎn nǐ gēn shì nǐde shàngsī，nǐde tóngshì，háiyǒu qítā de guānxì。 kěshì zài měiguó shèhuì lǐmiàn ne，tā xūyào jiǎng yīxiē fēicháng qīngchǔ de fǎlǜ de guānxì。Tā rènwéi bǎ fǎ fàngzài qiánmiàn shì fēicháng zhòngyào。Yīnwéi méiyǒu fǎlǜ yījù ne，nà jiù bùróngyì ah bǎ shìqíng ah zuòhǎo。Yīnwéi tā shì yīgè ah gèzhǒng ah juédìng de yīgè jīchǔ。Suǒyǐ ne kěshì xiànzài zuìjìn hěnduō měiguó de yīgè zuòfǎ jiùshìshuō ah yǐ liǎojiě zhègè rénqíng de guānxì de zhòngyào。Kěshì xiàmiàn e xiǎngdào：wànyī jiǎrú zhègè rénqíng zǒubùtōng de huà，huì duì fǎlǜ shàngmiàn yǒu yīxiē ah ah bùbùbù qiàdàng de xíngwéi。Jiùshì tā zìjǐ xiǎngdào zěnmeyàng qù bìmiǎn zhègè guānxì。 Nà dāngrán zài zhōngguó shèhuì lǐmiàn，ah gèfāngmiàn dōuyàoyǒu rénshì guānxì。Cóng shàngmiàn de ah guān guānyú zhèngfǔ guānyuán，shāngyè xíngwéi，háiyǒu rényǔrén zhījiān dōu xūyào yǒu yīdìng de shèhuì guānxì。Nà yòng zhèzhǒng shèhuì guānxì ne，tā jiù bù xūyào zǒu yīgè zhèngcháng de guòchéng，shǐ shìqíng dádào fēicháng yuánmǎn de ah de yīgè jiēduàn。Nǎ cóng zuòshì de guāndiǎn láijiǎng，nà dāngrán zhèshì yīgè jiéjìng。Nà wǒmen jiù fēicháng ah dānxīn de yīdiǎn jiùshìshuō，yào zhèyàng zuò de huà，zuòwéi dāngshìrén，tā yǒu hěndà de chéngběn zài lǐmiàn，zhègè chéngběn shuō nǐ nǐ yīzhě ne yào fù yīxiē fèiyòng。Ránhòu wǒmen jiùshuō búyàoshuō huìlù le。Jiùshì zhèyàng shǐ shìqíng wánchéng。Nà zhèyàng yǒushíhòu ne huì duì hěnduō qítārén shì hěn bùgōngpíng de。 Nà jiù zhèyàng。
