OK, um, this work topic, uh, it depends whether you’re talking about [people who] work as part of a group or do their work by themselves. I think that this is more or less the same in Taiwan and the US because it depends on your type of work. Like, some more research type jobs, working in a lab, uh, I think an individual has to really focus when in his workplace, in the lab. Uh, I think that in jobs where you tend more to work by yourself… now of course I don’t mean 100% [by yourself] because you probably spend 10% of your time exchanging information, exchanging “ideas” with your colleagues.
Now, generally, at larger companies, for these, uh, larger projects, you probably form a “team,” a, a team from people of different departments. Now I think that in that situation, how you interact with others is extremely, how people go about cooperating with one another is extremely important; it’s not about one person’s performance. Like, it’s like playing basketball. Everyone has their own position. Everyone has their own function. But how they interact is extremely important. So I think whether you work alone or as a team depends on the nature of the work, and also depends on the kind of project the company gives you [to do].
